Spin-off

Companies that grew out of research

We set up spin-off companies together with Gdańsk University of Technology researchers, graduates of our programmes and investors. Each of them develops a specific technology and has a market of its own.

Below are the companies in which EXCENTO holds shares — from the first commercialisations in 2013 to the latest spin-offs. Closed projects that matter to the portfolio's history are marked with a separate label.

2026

Raylock Systems PSA

Spółka utworzona przez zespół rozwijający projekt Raylock Systems, będący absolwentem programów Startup School realizowanych na Politechnice Gdańskiej przez PG Biznes Hub. Spółka rozwija i produkuje w Polsce platformy obrotowo-uchylne przeznaczone do zastosowania w systemach antydronowych, obserwacyjnych oraz rozwiązaniach służących ochronie infrastruktury krytycznej.

2026

BIOSCELL Sp. z o.o.

A biotechnology spin-off in which EXCENTO became a shareholder as part of a commercialisation carried out through the Development Incubator. The company is developing a standardised preclinical testing platform based on the chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. The model enables in vivo toxicological, angiogenic and tumorigenic studies while allowing direct observation of biological processes and precise intervention in the system under study. The solution can be used at an early stage of developing new drugs, active substances and medical devices, supporting the assessment of their safety and biological activity.

2026

MoleculeSolver PSA

A deep-tech spin-off developing an AI-based solution that automates the analysis of chemical compound structures. The user uploads NMR data to the application, and AI models process it and propose the most likely molecular structure, which can then be viewed and edited in the web app. The technology is being developed for chemical, cosmetics and biotechnology laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutes and universities. The project originated in the Startup School PG environment, and its core value is to shorten the time-consuming process of determining molecular structures.

2025

InnoS Sp. z o.o.

A spin-off created with the participation of graduates of the first edition of Startup School Two. The company develops smart, multifunctional vertical panels that combine four functional areas in one system, known as the “4S”: Sun, Sound, Safe and Sustainability. The system can automatically regulate access to sunlight, influence the acoustics and privacy of a room, and help reduce energy consumption. The panels are mounted on carriages that move along a busbar track, with drives that allow the panel to move and rotate. Applications include apartments, hotels, offices, conference rooms and galleries.

2023

Centrum Badawcze nad Żywnością Funkcjonalną Sp. z o.o.

A company founded by seven Polish universities and research institutions through their special purpose companies, including EXCENTO representing Gdańsk University of Technology. Its goal is to build an ecosystem for the development of functional food and personalised nutrition, combining scientific research, food production, diagnostics, certification and education. One of the Centre's key initiatives is the F-Food System — a quality and certification scheme for products with a health-promoting composition, whose mark has been registered with the EUIPO. The company also plans to develop precision nutrition based on individual health profiles and to digitise the entire value chain.

2017

Solutions 4 Tomorrow Sp. z o.o.

An active technology company focused on unmanned aerial vehicles and increasing their operational autonomy. One of the key projects developed within e-Pionier was a system for the automatic, precise landing of a drone on an unstable or moving platform. The system uses optical navigation and markers placed on the docking station, allowing the drone to determine the landing spot's position on its own. The project also included automatic battery replacement after landing, which reduces operator involvement and extends mission time. The technology was developed with emergency services in mind, but it is also used in industry, monitoring and inspections.

Byotta Sp. z o.o.

The company grew out of a project developed by Gdańsk University of Technology graduates in the e-Pionier programme run by EXCENTO. The original focus was a high-performance thermal management system for electric vehicle traction batteries, using phase-change materials and composite cooling plates. The technology was intended to enable faster charging, limit cell degradation and allow waste heat recovery. Today Byotta has expanded into complete energy storage systems: it designs and assembles lithium-ion batteries in Poland for stationary and mobile applications, with its own BMS electronics and software.

2014

Argevide Sp. z o.o.

A spin-off set up to commercialise the results of the NOR-STA project. The company specialises in tools that help demonstrate the compliance of products, systems and processes with standards, regulations and norms. Its current main product is the PREMIS platform, designed for creating and managing assurance cases, gathering evidence of compliance, monitoring conformity and preparing organisations for audits or certification. The solution is used in sectors such as automotive, aviation and air traffic management, oil & gas, cybersecurity, technology and medical devices. Argevide offers a SaaS model, on-premise installations, training, consulting and integration of PREMIS with customer systems.

2014

AssisTech Sp. z o.o.

One of the most mature spin-offs of Gdańsk University of Technology. The company was founded to develop and commercialise the CyberOko research prototype, which gave rise to the C-Eye® system. The solution uses eye-tracking technology to assess the state of consciousness, support neurological rehabilitation and communicate with people who, due to illness or injury, cannot communicate in the usual way. The company has built a broader portfolio of assistive technologies: C-Eye X, eyeTAB, neuroTAB, eyefeel and eyeLearn. AssisTech combines IT, multimedia and biomedical expertise and develops its products in cooperation with doctors, therapists and the research community. Its solutions are also in use outside Poland.

PeGie Sp. z o.o.

A venture connected with university sport, the promotion of physical activity and the commercial use of the Gdańsk University of Technology brand. The cooperation between EXCENTO and the university's Academic Sports Centre led to the creation of the PGStore shop and a clothing collection carrying the university's identity. The business covers the sale and production of clothing, sports equipment, and sports and recreation services. Among the other spin-offs it is an unusual project — its foundation is not deep tech but the commercialisation of a brand, sports activity and services for the academic community.

Historical project2013

ChillID Sp. z o.o.

One of the first companies set up with EXCENTO's participation, established to commercialise a smart label technology — an indicator showing the quality and expected shelf life of a product, primarily food. The concept moved away from a static best-before date towards a solution that responds to the actual conditions the product is kept in. The technology fell within the field of smart packaging and food quality control.

DetoxED Sp. z o.o.

An interdisciplinary spin-off founded jointly by representatives of Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdańsk. The company addresses human exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) found in everyday products and the environment. It combines expertise in analytical chemistry, toxicology, medicine, dietetics and information technology. One of the team's results was a patented diagnostic kit for determining bisphenol A in biological material. Today DetoxED develops biomonitoring, tools for assessing and reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, education, and public health and environmental protection projects.

Historical project2013

NovaPUR Sp. z o.o.

One of the first spin-offs set up with EXCENTO's participation, established to commercialise a new generation of polyurethane foams made from renewable raw materials produced, among others, in biofuel synthesis processes. The materials under development were to offer increased mechanical strength, resistance to fire, weather, solvents and oils, as well as damping properties. Potential applications included construction, automotive, aerospace and clothing manufacturing.
